Chicago Marathon Kids Kick Off
- When: October 31, 2009 9 am - new time!
- Where: Hanson Stadium, 5501 W. Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60639
Hundreds of Chicago area K-5th grade school children and parents start running and walking 26.2 miles over the next six months, with their parents and/or at school, coloring in their incremental running logs in 1/4 to 1/2 mile segments. In addition to running/walking 26.2 miles, Chicago Marathon Kids eat 26.2 days a month of 5-a-day fruits and veggies, to fuel their 26.2 miles of running over six months!
On October 31st, they will begin their six-month journey to running a marathon. This is no small accomplishment! If they are able to meet their goal, the Marathon Kids will receive a Finisher Medal at the Final Mile Medal Celebration.
Please note that the event starts at 9am this year!! This is an hour earlier than we have started in the past.
Seating will be First come, First to run! Our Volunteers will guide you to the first available seating. If you would like to run with your school, please arrange to meet outside the stands, and then be seated together. Groups are encouraged to make and bring large school signs so that you may easily find each other.
