Overview
Marathon Kids is a free six-month endurance building running/walking and nutrition program for K-5th public, private and home-schooled children and their families. We are looking for a dynamic individual to serve as an intern for the fall semester.

Our Mission
The mission of Marathon Kids® is to build a love and habit of running and walking and making healthy food choices, to encourage bonding of children with their parents, development of self-esteem through a sense of completion.  We provide a nationally recognized, resonating vehicle for running and walking, building this exercise habit as a coping mechanism for the child as he/she grows older and meets the challenges of adult life. Our mission is to successfully build sustainable habits for a healthy future, restoring to children their natural sense of zeal and vitality.

 
Intern Description (course credit only)
The intern would function in a variety of positions, including but not limited to: Program Operations, Administrative, Clerical, Program Development, and Assistant. This person would be available to attend the weekend “bookend events” of Marathon Kids; our Kick-Off Celebration and Final Mile Medal Celebration.

 
Basic Duties

•    Provide overall administrative assistance to the Marathon Kids Program.
•    Provide operational support for Marathon Kids Events Program.
•    Participate in planning for MK Events and special activities.
•    Research city specific contacts, information, and venues for Chicago Launch 2008.
•    Create documents, reports, and media files as needed.
•    Conduct inventory of branded products, equipment, etc.
•    Assist in assembling and distributing mailers as needed.
•    Create and maintain publicity files.
•    Ability to perform some physical labor (lifting/carrying boxes, tents, and cones).
•    Select, develop, and complete assigned special projects over course of internship.

Job Requirements

  • Must me at least a junior, and actively pursuing a college degree
  • Part-time or Full Time position, minimum of 15 hours per week
  • Must be proficient in computer skills and use of Microsoft Office
  • Assist in errands (a car would be a plus)
  • Multi-tasking skills required
  • Possible travel time and weekend hours

Timeline: Resumes will be accepted until positions are filled. No relocation fees will be paid.
